How To Select Your Services Provider

What does an ISP do?
In simple terms, an ISP provides users with internet access for fees. Users can dial into the ISP's point of presence (POP) through the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) or over a dedicated connection. When a home user selects an ISP, the selection is usually based on connection options. When a business selects an ISP, these options are still important, but there are many other considerations. As an owner of a growing business, you should view your ISP as an important business partner, especially if you plan to expand your presence on the Internet. There are numerous important criteria to consider in choosing an ISP:
Solutions and services
Connection options
Points of presence (POPs)
Price
Reliability
Support

In the newsletters to come, we will explain each of these factors in details.

Our first MPLS VPN customer
In this issue of our newsletter, NOOR interviews Dr. Mohammed Abdel-Monem, PACS consultant for Alpha Scan, our first
MPLS VPN customer:

Q: Why did you choose MPLS-VPN other than legacy VPN technologies like FR?

A: It is a new technology; I like to test new technologies. It was proposed by NOOR as the latest VPN technology, and it proves very efficient.

Q: Did you need to change or upgrade any hardware to use MPLS-VPN?
A: Nope. I did not change anything of the existing hardware to move to MPLS.

Q: Part of your MPLS-VPN is based on dialup (VPDN Telecommuter), why you chose this technology and how it helps you?
A: The first reason is cost saving. With MPLS telecommuter access, we do not need to invest building a full dialup infrastructure, meanwhile it is more reliable to use a powerful infrastructure of a data carrier like NOOR with all the advantages including technical support, maintenance, upgrade and configuration.

Q: What do you love most about NOOR?
A: Different things.. but in a nutshell, I will say personnel, especially the technical support team: helpful and professional.

Q: And finally, how do you evaluate NOOR's Engineering, NOC and Technicians departments?
A: Excellent!
